John's recent fiction book PANDORA'S
CLOCK is about a deadly virus that is presumed
to have been exposed to the passengers and crew of
a Boeing 747. Because it is feared the virus on board
the aircraft could wipe out a large percentage of
the population of the world, no country will allow
the plane to land.
After the movie rights obtained
by NBC, a two-part, four
hour mini-series was produced, directed by Eric Laneuville
from a screenplay written by David Israel.
Richard Dean
Anderson stars as Captain James Holland, a
38-year-old former fighter pilot, now serving as a
747 captain for Quantum Airlines. Although a former
military man, Holland is a maverick who recognizes
the limitations of going by the book. Jane
Leeves stars as Rachel Sherwood, the beautiful
and buttoned-up aide to U.S. Ambassador Lee Lancaster
(Robert Guillaume) who
helps Captain James Holland (Anderson) navigate the
maze of government bureaucracy in order to land Quantum
66 safely. Daphne Zuniga
stars as Dr. Roni Sanders, a CIA virologist who must
untangle a web of deceit in order to help the passengers
aboard Quantum Airlines Flight 66.
On the set of NBC's
mini-series Pandora's Clock
based on John Nance's action packed novel. As Technical
Consultant for the movie, John spent the better part
of two weeks guiding the cast and crew in the mock-up
of a 747 cockpit.
John played the role of Air Force
Chief of Staff, shown on the set in costume talking
with Jim French who
played the Army Chief of Staff.
"Michael Gallant, our Line
Producer, pulled a lot of strings in arranging for
the mini-series to be shot in Seattle. I acted as
the aviation advisor and even had a minor part as
the Chief of Staff of the Air Force during a couple
of the scenes. It was a fascinating experience to
see my book come to life before my eyes. They did
a good job and I was very impressed."
